Your location:Home > Control factors of electroplating treatment of self-clinching nut

self-clinching nut requires very high technical content. Even carbon steel rivet nuts and cold heading rivet nuts usually require plating.

Because the pier of the cold heading rivet nut is flushed with oil and impurities. According to customer requirements, plating surface treatment.

Electroplating is a process of plating a thin layer of other metals or alloys on the surface of some metals using the principle of electrolysis.

It can prevent corrosion, improve wear resistance, electrical conductivity, reflectance, enhance beauty.

The following factors should be controlled in the process of electroplating surface treatment of self-clinching nut:

1. appearance

The surface of riveted fasteners shall not have local uncoated, burnt, rough, blackened, peeling, scabs and obvious stripes,

pinhole pitting, black slag plating, loose passivation film, cracks, peeling and serious passivation marks.

2.coating thickness

The service life of riveting fasteners in corrosive environment is directly proportional to their coating thickness.

The general recommended thickness of economical electroplating is 0.00015in ~ 0.0005in (4 ~ 12um).

Hot dip galvanizing: Standard average thickness is 54um (diameter ≤3/8 is 43um), minimum thickness is 43um (diameter ≤3/8 is 37um).

3. Coating distribution

The coating accumulates on the fastener surface in different deposition methods. During electroplating, the coating metal is

deposited inhomogeneous at the periphery edge, and a thicker coating is obtained at the corner. In fasteners, threaded portion,

the thickest deposit is located in the top thread, along the thread profile thinning, the thin coating on the bottom of the screw

thread, and hot dip galvanizing on the contrary, the thicker the coating deposited on the inside and the bottom of the thread,

mechanical plating and hot dip plating has the same trend of metal deposition, but more smooth, more homogeneous and the

thickness of the entire surface.
